|10th Albania Rally: Second stage Tuesday and finally the winners of the day.|
At 01:00 CET Stage 2 is almost over. After 190 kms, 57 bikes and 16 cars have already finished the race. In the bike category, Ondrej Klymciw was the first one to cross the finish line in 03:27:37 hours. The biker from Czech Republic dominated the stage for most of the time.
His main challenger today was Christian Pastori from Italy, who recorded the second best time of +2 seconds, while the imaginary podium was completed by the three-times winner of Rally Albania, Andrea Cosentino (Italy) who finished the today’s stage in 03:32:50.
In the car category, the Albanian Dervishaj / Papuli (LILU 2 Prototype) recorded the fastest time of 03:48:11 hours, ahead of Marku / Flamuri (Albania, Jeep Cherokee) in +3s and the third place the Italians Foschi / Menghnini (Jeep Proto) who completed the stage in 03:53:15.
Today’s race was very difficult for some of the competitors, who were forced to abandon the stage. First was Robert Geelen (Holland) after breaking his bike’s engine, his compatriot Gersom Velema abandoned the stage in the first part after being involved in an accident.
In the cars, the Albanians Misha / Mati (Mitsubishi Pajero) rolled over their car just 3 kilometers before the end of SS02 but fortunately nothing serious for them.
Tomorrow the third stage will take the rally to the city Orikum - and it is expected to be a massacre. 490 kilometers, splitted in three liaisions (266 kms overall) and two timed sections (35 and 164 kms), in the middle an assistance parc. The longest stage in the Rally, from the Northeast in the Southwest!
