|10th Albania Rally TICKER: After a long first day the SS02 is still in progress.|
157 kilometers racing in two stages and 65 kms liaison - these are the main dates for the second stage of the 10th edition of the Albania Rally on Tuesday. But: 157 kms racing in Albania are like 600 kms in the Dakar - to say it in easy words.
Today´s stage - a round course around the city Peshkopi - was really tough, crossing some high mountains up to 1,800 meters altitude, following very stony and dangerous tracks. The stage started late, the bikes left Peshkopi at 11:00 CET, the cars followed at 12:30 CET.
Actually at 18:20 CET 45 bikes finished the stages and are back in the camp or on their way, only 5 cars made in to the finish line (all are on the liaison back to the camp). As the organization reported, there were some accidents today, in the bikes like in the cars. Bad luck in the cars had the Albanians Misha / Mati, who rolled their car only 3 kms before today´s final finish.
So only for the bikes we have a first idea for the eventually winner: The top 5 are lead by Czech Ondrej Klymciw (Husqvarna) with 03:27:28 hours (all timings including liaisons), second is the Italian Christian Pastori (Beta, 03:29:03) and third Andrea Cosentino, also from Italy (KTM, 03:32:50). They are followed by Carl Hagenblad from Sweden with his "Zebra"-Husaberg (03:34:55) and Slovakian Anton Zboran (KTM, 03:42:50).
