|10th Albania Rally TICKER: First bikes and cars finished Monday´s Stage 01.|
The 10th edition of the "Albania Rally" has started officially after the Sunday-prologue with Monday´s SS01, bringing the competitors 245 kilometers in racing plus 134 kms liaison from Albania´s capital Tirana to the city of Peshkopi in the North-East of Albania. 91 bikes, 1 quad, 5 SSV and 24 cars finally started in the rally.
Actually at 18:30 CET the first bikes and cars officially finished the stage - and we have an idea who could be the first leaders of the rally (subject to eventually penalties).
In the bikes and quads, Italian Christian Pastori (Beta R520) was the fastest after CP8 - he needed 07:01:47 hours for the first long day, followed by the Czech Ondrej Klymciw (Husqvarna TE450, 07:09:40) and Italian Andrea Cosentino (KTM 450EXC, 07:14:54).
In the cars, three Albanian teams are dominating the day. First with 07:42:05 hours eventually was the Jeep Cherokee crew of Marku / Flamuri in front of Dervishaj / Papuli in their blue LILU2-prototype (07:50:59) and Shkreta / Feka (Toyota Land Cruiser, 07:54:31). Best foreigners eventually are the Bulgarians Gochev / Hristov (Polaris RZR800, 08:15:49) and the German former "Breslau Rally" winner and boss Henrik Strasser (Toyota Land Cruiser Proto, 08:22:09).
Again a bad day after the "Hellas Rally" in Greece some weeks before had the Bulgarian Side-by-Side crew Cankov / Todorova. In Greece they crashed with the SSV of the Austrian Heinz Kinigadner in the first stage - here in Albania they also crashed in the first day... Luckily nobody was injured, but their Polaris wasn´t able to finish the stage.
