 | 20th Italian Baja: FIA Cross Country World Cup opener reaches 100 entries
|
The Italian Baja has already got almost 100 entries. Stronger than the general economic and car market crisis, the World Cup challenge still represents an irresistible call for all Cross Country experts.
Exactly two weeks to start up, entries list is extending day by day and great news come from bikes and quads, as a fantastic duel has been promised by Stephane Peterhansel (Yamaha) and Alberto Basso (Suzuki).
The challenge reminds us to the Italian film: "I don't fear". No giving up. For sure the one who won 11 Dakar editions, absolute highlight Cross Country champion, won't renounce. Neither the "Local Hero", unbeaten champion on his Land since three years ago. It is supposed to be an unmissable race, also thanks to the declared fight among many other bikers along the Meduna, Cosa and Tagliamento riverbeds.
An insidious track which will be openly faced again by Nicola Dutto (KTM), as he will play the fore-runner role, riding a prepared and modified bike which perfectly suits him, allowing him to overcome the obstacle created by his legs' handicap after the accident of 2010; he represents a model of brave rebirth despite all destiny tricks.
In the meanwhile, suspense increases among drivers because of the confirmed challenge between Bogdan Novitskiy and Boris Gadasin, both of them driving a G-Force Proto, the car which already attested its ability in crossing riverbeds and fords at the last editions of the Baja. Same vehicle also for the Czech Miroslav Zapletal and Zdenek Porizek, driving an Offroad H3 Evo.
What about Italians? Lorenzo Codecà still represents the National champion, although he chose a Suzuki New Grand Vitara, not really the appropriate car to confront challengers by crossing our fords; as for Riccardo Colombo (Mitsubishi) and Giovanni Manfrinato (Renault), both of them aim to achieve victory, of course.
