ABSA 2007: Easy viewing for Specatators on Sun City 400 Rally.

The route for the Sun City 400 on Friday and Saturday, May 11 and 12, round three of the Absa Off Road Championship, will once again be more than spectator friendly. Absa Vehicle and Asset Finance are proud to bring the Sun City 400 to the Pilanesberg. Absa is one of the leading providers of vehicle and asset finance, and there is no better way to demonstrate the qualities of racing 4x4's than the Absa Off Road Championship.

Marcel de Klerk, managing executive of Absa Vehicle and Asset Finance, said that from the point of exciting racing action to choosing and buying your next vehicle, 4x4 or any other asset, Absa Vehicle and Asset Finance is able to offer the complete finance solution to get you on the road in no time at all.

"Over the years the Sun City 400 has earned the reputation as perhaps the most spectator friendly event on the Absa Off Road Championship calendar," said de Klerk. "It is no surprise that this year will be no different, and the Sun City 400 is ideal for those enthusiasts who want to turn the event into a family outing in the Pilanesberg.

"Sun City is easily accessible from the major metropolitan areas, the racing is going to be exciting, there are plenty of vantage points and the weather in the Pilanesberg at this time of the year is superb."

The route for the Sun City 400 is a compact one made up of two short loops of 120 kilometres, and a longer loop of 180 kilometres. There are no fewer than 14 spectator points with all of them within easy access from Sun City. There are six spectators points on the R556, two on the R510 and a further six just off the R556 and R565. All offer good viewing and, as in previous years, there will be a festive atmosphere among enthusiasts.

Those wanting to make a weekend of it can combine the Sun City 400 with a host of activity in the Pilanesberg. Some of the finest games reserves, cultural sights, archeological treasures and entertainment resorts make the area Mecca for those looking to get away for a day or two from the hustle and bustle of city life.

A prologue to determine start positions for the Sun City 400 will be run from 12h00 on Friday, May 11. The race proper will start on Saturday, May 12 at 07h30 from the Cascade complex, with the pits and Designated Service Park situated adjacent to the Sun City Sky Train.

Absa marketing head William James said the Absa Off Road Championship was growing in terms of both spectators and TV viewership, and now ranked as one of the top motorsport series in South Africa. "We are currently highly satisfied with our involvement and are excited about the future of the sport," James said. "With more competitors joining the fold there is going to be some exciting action to look forward to."
