ABSA 2007: Massive entry for South African Sun City 400 Rally.

It was almost a ton up for the Sun City 400, round three of the Absa Off Road Championship, in the Pilanesberg on Friday and Saturday, 11 & 12 May. The event is also round three of the Northern Regions Off Road Championship and missed the magical 100 by one entry. When entries closed late last week the figure stood at 99 with 54 Special Vehicles and 45 Production Vehicles entered for what is one of the most popular events on the calendar.

Of the 99 entries 81 will be competing in the national championship and 18 in the Northern Regions series. Four crews will be competing in both championships. "The response from the off road fraternity has been incredible," said event organiser Adri Roets. "We were expecting a large entry, but this is a pleasant surprise."

He added that with the size of the entry the organisers were expecting a huge crowd over the weekend. The Sun City 400 has always been a spectator friendly event, and this year is no different with a plethora of viewing points within easy access of the Sun City complex.

The event will open on Friday with a prologue to determine start positions running from 12h00. The race proper will start at 07h30 on Saturday from the Cascade complex, with the pits and Designated Service Point situated adjacent to the Sky Train.

The motocross circuit offers plenty of vantage points and should provide for plenty of excitement. The first two loops are expected to take crews approximately 90 minutes each to complete, while the final loop will take approximately two hours. This gives spectators plenty of time to take in the action at the motocross complex and out on the route.

Absa Vehicle and Asset Finance is proud to bring the Sun City 400 to the Pilanesberg. Absa is one of the leading providers of vehicle and asset finance, and there is no better way to demonstrate the qualities of racing 4x4's than the Absa Off Road Championship.

Marcel de Klerk, managing executive of Absa Vehicle and Asset Finance, said that from the point of exciting racing action to choosing and buying your next vehicle, 4x4 or any other asset, Absa Vehicle and Asset Finance is able to offer the complete finance solution to get you on the road in no time at all.
