ABSA 2007: Subtle changes to Sun City 400 Rally / Entry Form & Regs.

Subtle changes have been made to the route and structure of the Sun City 400, round three of the South African Absa Off Road Championship, at Sun City on May 11 and 12. Approximately 40 percent of the route will be different to last year, with a combination of rocky and bushveld terrain certain to make life a little interesting for crews. A total of six river crossings will also test crews.

The route will be made up of three loops with two short sections of around 120 kilometres to be followed by a longer section of 180 kilometres. There will be a compulsory 15 minute pit stop for crews after the first two loops.

The two short loops prior to the compulsory stop will also see plenty of action in the Designated Service Park (DSP) which, along with the pits, has this year been moved to the tarred car park adjacent to the Sky Train. Spectators will be able to park within close proximity of the DSP and, as an added bonus, will have full access should they want to visit the Sun City complex and Valley of the Waves during the event.

The main event will start at 07h30 from the entrance of the Cascades complex, and all three loops will finish within the international motocross circuit in close proximity to the DSP. The motocross circuit offers plenty of vantage points and should provide for plenty of excitement.

A 55 kilometre prologue to determine start positions for the race proper will be run from 12h00 on Friday, May 11. This should also provide for good racing with the Sun City 400 an important event for crews who have made a good start to the season or who need to play catch up.
