 | ABSA 2010: Tough route for final ABSA Championship event in South Africa.

New sections on the route will provide competitors with a tough challenge on the final South African Absa Off Road Championship event of the year on November 19 and 20.
The RFS Magalies 400 will bring the curtain down on this year’s Absa championship, with the Special Vehicle title still up for grabs. The Production Vehicle championship has already been settled with privateers Chris Visser and Japie Badenhorst (RFS Toyota Hilux), clinching the title last time out on the Human Auto 400 in the Free State.
Race director Adri Roets said new sections of route would make this year’s event more interesting - and more of a challenge. New territory in the Blaauwbank area will provide competitors with a fresh challenge. "The new sections of the route bring a new dimension to the race," said Roets. "It is going to be a tough end to the season for crews."
The Donaldson Prologue to determine race grid positions will start at 12:00 on Friday, 19 November. The 60 kilometre route will take competitors along the R24 Krugersdorp/Magalies road through Maloney’s Eye into a new section in the Blaauwbank area.
The race will start at 08:30 on Saturday, November 20 with the prologue route once again coming into play. The 180 kilometre route will be run twice and also takes in the Syferbuilt, Carletonville and Ventersdorp areas before heading back to Tarlton.
As in previous years the route will be spectator friendly and there are excellent spectator points along the R509 Magalies/Koster Road. There are also good vantage points where the route crosses over the R500.
The main race will start at 08:30 with race headquarters, the start/finish and designated service point all situated at the Tarlton International Raceway complex on the outskirts of Krugersdorp. Public access to Tarlton and spectator points along the route is free of charge.
"Tarlton and vantage points along the route are easily accessible from Johannesburg, Pretoria, Krugersdorp, Rustenburg and surrounding areas and we expect a huge turnout of race enthusiasts," said Roets. "There is also the small matter of national championships to be decided, and that adds to the attraction."
