|ABSA 2012: Ford Racing determined to keep South African title fight alive.|
Team Ford Racing has been hard at work in preparation for the penultimate round of the South African "ABSA Off Road Championship" taking place in the Free State this weekend.
The Ford dealer-sponsored "Human Auto 400" marks a critical point in the championship, with Team Ford Racing´s Chris Visser and Japie Badenhorst one of only three crews still in a position to take the title honours.
Visser and Badenhorst are among only two crews to have finished every race this season. With the Production Vehicle rules dictating that crews will need to drop points from one event during the season, the pair head into the event in a strong position.
"We´ve done a lot of preparation in the lead up to this race," explains Visser. "The cars have been stripped down and rebuilt to ensure they are up for the challenge. There is no reason why we shouldn´t do well, despite the intense competition we will face from our rivals."
The Human Auto event is one that has traditionally proved favourable for the Ford crew with the team having taken a first and third place finish last year and a second place finish the year before.
"It´s definitely an area that suits our cars," adds Lance Woolridge who together with his navigator Ward Huxtable, will be hoping to assist teammates Visser and Badenhorst with the championship fight.
