 | ABSA 2012: Team Ford Racing aiming for strong showing in 2. Rd Lydenburg.
|
Team Ford Racing are looking to extend their winning streak at the Toyota Dealer 400 taking place on 13 and 14 April in the Lydenburg area in South Africa.
Team Ford Racing dominated the opening round of the South African "ABSA Off Road Championship" with Chris Visser and Japie Badenhorst taking a comfortable victory ahead of teammates Lance Woolridge and Ward Huxtable.
"We had a dream start to the season securing a 1-2 finish for Ford at the RFS Magalies 400. We´ll be going all out to ensure we repeat the feat at this month´s event although it will be no easy task" commented Visser. "The competition in the SP class is very close and it´s a long season so it´s important to aim for a strong point haul while still keeping sight of the end result – the championship."
Last year´s Lydenburg event proved trying, thanks to heavy rainfall in the area resulting in an unforgiving route. Only eight Production Vehicles made it to the finish with Visser and Badenhorst demonstrating their grit and determination by taking second place. This year they´ll be hoping to go one better.
Last year´s event also marked Lance Woolridge´s debut in the premier SP class. In the last 12 months Woolridge has grown from strength to strength becoming the youngest driver to secure a podium in the premier class of the Absa Off Road Championship. As he continues to prosper, Woolridge could well secure his debut victory in his Ford Ranger TDCi.
"Last year´s event was a huge learning curve for us. We´ve made a great deal of progress since then, we´ve enjoyed some exceptional results of late and are confident with the vehicle so we´ll be hoping for another strong finish" says Woolridge.
