For the second round of the FIA Cross Country World Cup, the Sonangol-Schlesser team has shown his experience and his generosity before high-level competitors.
"I am really happy for this victory. Since last year we had developed our buggy. Our car is very efficient on these sand dunes. It is always warm here; it is quite difficult for the machine and the crew. Konstantin did a great job" said Jean-Louis Schlesser after his win.
In fact with 3 scratches on 5 legs, the Schlesser / Zhiltsov duo was able to get this victory against competitors very sharp. Until the last stage Al-Mutaiwei has pursued the five times Cross Country World Champion to overtake him. Driving his two-wheel drive buggy, the French driver had completed the stage in 03:08:57 against 04:08:13 for the first pursuer on the overall result.
"The desert offered treacherous soft sand which need to tame to ensure a good performance. It took a drive very fast without breaking anything. A race is never won before crossing the finish lane" said Jean Louis Schlesser.
The new leader of the FIA Cross Country World Cup (overall) and leader of the Two Wheel Drive Trophy, look forward to follow him on the next round on the first "Sealine Qatar" Cross Country Rally, on April 15-21.
