The UAE-based "Team Al Yasi" is excited to confirm, that renowned quad-rider Mohammed Shamsi has joined the team for the 2011 "Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge", second round of the FIA Cross Country World Cup. Hoping to replicate his 2005 first place in the quad bike class, Mohammed has recently bought a new Yamaha quad bike for the Desert Challenge.
"Yamaha is a reliable brand that the rest of the team has trusted in", notes Shamsi, "and so with my new membership to the team it is fitting that there is a new quad bike; it is a new era for me."
Shamsi, who has competed regularly in the Desert Challenge, as well as events across the Middle East and Europe, is thus far the only representative of the team on four wheels; however he enjoys the unconditional support of his two-wheeled compatriots.
Notes team member Justin Taylor said: "We are just really very happy that someone of Shami's calibre would choose us to race with us. He has such a strong sense of character and honour he is an asset that we can be incredibly proud of".
Team Al Yasi is a group of three semi-professional and professional motorbike riders based in Dubai, UAE. Focusing on rally and endurance events, the team brings many years desert riding experience from the motocross tracks of the United Kingdom to the Jungles of Thailand. The Team has a full competition calendar for 2011, comprising of events based here in UAE, Europe, and other parts of the world.
The Team name "Al Yasi" was chosen to reflect not only the brave nature of those that choose to compete in cross country rally, but also the family nature that has been created by the joining of each member to the team. While each member brings their own special dynamic to the team, all are focussed on achieving their individual ambitions together as a team.
