|
There is no better way to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Desert Challenge than holding the Rally HQ in the latest and state-of-the-art international motorsport facility: Yas Marina Circuit. Getting to Yas Marina is very practical for residents living in Abu Dhabi or coming from Dubai.
Team administrator Abi Shephard will represent Team FJ for the documentation that will begin from 9:00am on Thursday 25th. Team FJ will have race number 204, seeded 4th in the car category. The next day for scruteenering, access will be granted to media, sponsors and motorsports aficionados willing to get a close look to the 100-plus vehicles and speak to the competitors entering the event this year: 57 bikes, 13 quads, 36 cars and 4 trucks... a record.
On Saturday March 27th, after the competitors briefing, action will eventually begin by 11:00am with the Super Special Stage taking place at Al Forsan International Sports Resort.
The sunset ceremonial start (provisional time 6:00pm) in the ‘shadow’ of the Grand Mosque will signal five days of competition which begins early next morning (March 28th) with a liaison section from Abu Dhabi city to the actual start of SS1 (Al Dafrah). Finally, the enduring competitors and vehicles will return to Abu Dhabi city on April 1st, to reach the finish ramp and prize giving ceremony timed for 4:30pm in Yas Marina Yacht Club.
