 | Africa Eco Race: Elisabete Jacinto is going to fight for Truck-victory with MAN.
|
From December 28th to January 9th 2011, MAN Portugal is going to take part in the 3rd edition of Africa Eco Race rally. For Elisabete Jacinto this is going to be the great challenge of the season, in the sequence of her having won magnificently in Tunisia and in Morocco.
"In fact this has been an excellent year. The team managed to overcome all the difficulties inherent to the newness of our MAN TGS, and is working better and better. This allowed me to face the two competitions which took place in Tunisia and in Morocco with success", explains Elisabete Jacinto.
"I am now leaving for Africa Eco Race full of enthusiasm and prepared to confront the undoubtedly great African marathon. I set out fully aware of the many difficulties I’ll have to face, both at the level of the trail features and the level of the hard circumstances this competition implies. I shall have several competitors also bent on fighting for victory. The aim is to drive among the first three trucks, with victory as goal, and to finish among the top ten in general classification."
At Africa Eco Race 2011, Elisabete Jacinto will have José Marques as navigator, instead of the Belgian Charly Gotlib, who occupied the place during the present year. The mechanic Marco Cochinho will be, as usual, the third member of the MAN TGS crew. The team is 100% Portuguese and is sponsored by the German MAN trucks.
José Marques is an experienced navigator, he knows Africa and has taken part in several editions of the Dakar rally. It is worth emphasizing that Elisabete Jacinto is the Portuguese driver who entered more cross-country competitions in Africa. The total is almost thirty, starting with the 1997 Tunisian Rally, when she was riding a motorcycle.
