|Africa Eco Race: End of preferential rates - review rally presentations Europe.|
The participants of the [ AFRICARACE.COM ] have really benefitted of the preferential rates which were only till June 30th. As a result, at the rally office, registrations rife in and it is now obvious that the 2015 edition will be a grand cru with a lot of newcomers.
Indeed, since Jean Louis Schlesser announced his retirement at the end of the 2014 edition of the Africa Eco Race, after winning six editions, a lot of contenders want to take the place of the "Boss", therefore the rally should have a high-standard pack fighting for victory.
In parallel, press conferences in Europe are nearly over. It is always a very privileged moment for the organizers to get to know, meet up and share with new participants.
Belgium and Netherlands in Lommel - June 4th
A lot of people made the move at the motocross field of Lommel on June 4th to meet Jean Louis Schlesser and Rene Metge. Thanks to Jacky Loomans, Noel Essers, Raf Berkmans and Wouter Tyberghien for their help and support to organize of the presentation.
Metge, who just got back from his first recos, took word in the first place to explain the course but most of all, to explain what makes the Africa Eco Race so special: "As you may all know, for this edition we will have an extra stage with 100% of sand in Mauritania. The participants will be submerged in a saharian atmosphere that only Africa can give."
Metge added: "Once more, the 2015 edition will put forward the true values of the discipline which are mutual aid and solidarity, giving the opportunity to the participants to get closer and having an ambiance which they’ll find nowhere else. As always, bivouacs will be in the middle of nowhere, quality catering will be available for the troups and security will be our priority. Of course all of this is possible due to the efforts of the organization composed of real passionates which always give their very best."
Then came Schlesser’s turn to speak: "I’m looking for someone which will succeed me! Jacky Loomans and his Overdrive Toyota Hilux could be one of them but there are many others. Bets are open as long as the finish line isn’t crossed so nothing is decided."
Sofia / Bulgaria - June 18th
The new representative for Balkan countries, Todor Hristov from Bulgaria, did things in big. First of all an interview of Rene Metge was broadcasted on the national TV news of Bulgaria but also, he offers a Bike/Quad registration for the winner of his Balkan Rally from september 4th to 12th 2014. Finally, this conference gave the opportunity to René to measure the infatuation for the event as already teams have confirmed their participation.
Lisbon / Portugal - June 25th
The presentation of the 7th edition of the Africa Eco Race took place at the Altis Belem Hotel in Lisbon, where were exposed off road vehicles. Numerous personnalities were present at the such as Manuel Marin, President of FMP (Federation Moto Portugal) along with Joaquin Capelo, President of the Automobile Federation of Portugal, the driver Miguel Barbosa and Elisabete Jacinto with her team Oleoban MAN.
Proof that the AER arouses interests in Portugal. René Metge, always present, was of course part of it as well to present the key points of the course and to meet the different Car, Bike and Truck participants already registered. The rendez-vous was also matter of discussing the future of the growing event and why not one day, Portugal’s implication in the organization.
