|Africa Eco Race: Nine days before the start of the African rally to Dakar.|
Nine days away from the official start of the "Sonangol Africa Eco Race 2014" - for some the "Real Dakar" - the staff and the participants are in the last straight line and will be ready for the 28th and 29th of December in St Cyprien / France.
Everyone is eager to be on the port of the Seaside Resort which is part of the Eastern Pyrenees, located right at the bottom of Mount Canigou with its snow peak, it will give a nice contrast with the Mediterranean Sea.
During two days will happen the administrative and technical checks, the 130 volunteers and recipients will be the first to pass them on the 28th of December from 14:00 to 19:00 in order to be ready to welcome the participants (Bike, Car, Truck, Raid) for their checks on the 29th of December from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Once the administrative part at the St Cyprien Casino is over, the participants and their vehicles will go to technical checks under the big tent which was set by St Cyprien on the Captaincy parking. Assistance vehicles will be scrutered and equipped at the Tourism office. It will be a unique opportunity in France as well as in Europe, for all passionate of offroad motorsports to be part of the magic ambience with all the spirit of an African Rally.
The thousands of awaited spectators will have the opportunity to share with members of the organization but also to be close to magnificent racing machines which will be exposed during the whole day in the “parc fermé” in front of the Casino of St Cyprien.
The highlight of the weekend will for sure be the official start at 6:30 pm on the “Quai Arthur Rimbaud”. Then participants will march in front of all the spectators and will take their vehicles at the Capellans Stadium where the briefing will take place.
After the last night spent in St Cyprien, the rally caravan will head south towards Motril on the Spanish Mediterranean coast, where everyone will board on the ferry for Morocco! After a night crossing the sea, arrival in Nador for the last day of year 2013, and from where will start the first of 11 stages of which 2993 km will be timed!
This year will be the easiest to follow the Sonangol Africa Eco Race. First of all on the website africarace.com where news will be updated daily. Thanks to Iritrack, it will also be possible to follow any opponent on a map. The press releases, rankings, pictures and videos will be made available each evening. On TV with Eurosport International (57 countries and 80 million homes reached), each evening a 13 min program and the next morning a re-diffusion.
Same thing with the second channel of the group ; Eurosport 2. Motors TV will also broadcast the event, a 13 min program each evening and a 52 min summary at the end of the race and broadcasted around 10 times. And finally followers will have the possibility to stay tuned with the Sonangol Africa Eco Race using dedicated websites such as MFE-live.com, autonewsinfo.com and Marathonrally.com.
