 | Africa Eco Race: Only one week left for discounted and preferential rates.

There's only some days to go before the preferential rates period ends for competitors wanting to enter the "Sonagol Africa Eco Race 2013". The organization already announce that even now there are two times more participants than last year in cars, trucks, bikes and quads.
Certain countries will arrive, like Belgium for example which is at the moment the best represented nationality by the number of competitors... as well as in terms of competitiveness.
Indeed, Jacky Loomans will not be one of the only Belgian driver competing for the victory in the car class anymore because Joost van Cauwenberghe, another figure of Cross Country Rally from the Benelux countries has just confirmed his participation. Both friends will be on the starting line at the steering wheel of new and formidable Toyota Hilux Pickup.
Two wheel drive vehicles will be represented with Yves Fromont and Patrick Martin which are coming back with their Buggies Tarek Volkswagen built in Belgium by Stephane Henrard, who will also enter the race in his Buggy Ladybird.
5 months before the start, the caravan is growing in the car category. It should be the same with the "desert monsters" as the Czech Tomas Tomecek, titleholder and 2nd of the car-truck general classification in 2012, has just re-entered.
Noel Essers is also coming back, as well as Patrick and Kris Hillawaere and Philip Helewaut. Elisabete Jacinto from Portugal, who has confirmed us her participation, will come back also besides the guys and hopes to be the first one to arrive to the Lac Rose. However, contacts are moving well forward with other truck manufacturers and the Czech driver should have a stiffer competition third time out on the African tracks.
But the real satisfaction for the Deserts Adventures team concerns the motorcycle category. The number of competitors on this 5th edition of the Africa Race is also already higher than in 2012.
Organizer René Metge describes the route: "The 2013 road book is finalized on the paper, or on the computer I should say. There will be a lot of novelties, especially in Morocco where I found new tracks with a minimum of stones."
"There will be more sand than on the previous editions, and the balance between the various types of ground should make the unanimity. This year, we will have a real rest day to Daklha in the South of Morocco. It will be a real opportunity for competitors to recover before attacking the second week in Mauritania and in Senegal."
"I shall return there for another reccy in September with José Maria Servia and Manfred Kroiss to definitively validate the route and prepare the road-book for the Race, the Raid and the Classic Africa Race."
About the Classic class, competitors like the German crew Wunderlich/Kristek in their Porsche 911 are entering. After Erik Brandenburgs Porsche 911 Safari last year success, the German "Porsche Clan" is starting to arrive!
