Doubtless, since the very first hours of the rally raid, motorbikes have been the subject of the most intense stories. Sporting achievement or pain, in Africa each one has lived "his" own adventure. Returning to the fundamental values of the discipline, the Africa Eco Race wishes to offer to the motorbikes competitors, the best of a continent which stays and will remain magic.
Having joined the organisation team, as sporting manager in charge of motorbikes, Marcel Pilet, nicknamed "Marcel the African", is not a novice. He had his first experience in Africa in 1983. Conscious of the difficulties met today by beginners or confirmed riders, Pilet stays at their disposal to guide them towards an event in which he believes. For the 2011 edition, a quite particular effort has been granted on the entry fees to help the potential participants to live their dream.
Sporting director of this adventure in twelve acts, René Metge choose an exceptional route. After a start from France, then from Morocco by Senegal, by crossing Mauritania, the stages have been quite particularly well balanced both in driving and navigation, but accessible to all, beginners or confirmed riders.
Regarding the assistance, a truck carrying the competitors trunks will be at the bivouac, supplying electricity and air. For those who wish to enter a mechanic, but no service vehicle, the organisation proposes a minibus driving the staffs from bivouac to next bivouac. Every day everything is planned to faciliate and simplify logistics for the riders.
As usual, safety is naturally privileged. Two helicopters (one of them for medical assistance) follow permanently the race. Vehicles with doctors (the famous "tangos") are placed along the special stage and with the Iritrack system, competitors are immediately localized.
For those who do not wish to fight against the chronometer, it is always possible to enter the touristic Raid. The participants will take every day a part of the special stage and will met the same difficulties as the competitors under a similar supervision.
On September 15th the period of preferential rates will be finished. The entry fee will be 5.950 Euro per Person plus 3.250 Euro per Bike instead of 7.000 Euro after September 15th for motobikes, same for cars (fee per person plus 2.400 euros), 4x4 Trucks (3.800 Euros) and 6x6 (4.300 Euros).
