Aicha des Gazelles: First stage of the 2007 Gazelles women Rally.

Carole Montillet and Mélanie Suchet, Team 167 "Jugand/Kumho", are the first to reach the bivouac after the 1st Stage of the 2007 "Aicha des Gazelles" women Marathonrally. It is 3:15. The Gazelles drove just five kilometres more than the 180 km that is the ideal for this route. "A super day" for Mélanie "Yesterday we had a hard time getting back into it, but today the navigation went well, I found all my landmarks, although you are never quite sure if you are lost or not... we love that feeling!"

Team 111 "Abreu Atlantic" has finally reached the bivouac after yesterday's prologue, more than half a day after the other teams. Having missed the beginning of Leg 1, they are now "unranked" but can still take part in the other legs without being ranked.

They spent the night alone in the desert, firmly wedged on a rock. They had climbed a djebel in their 4WD, where the vehicle got firmly wedged. An assistance truck had to tow them out of their unfortunate position. Surprisingly, the Mitsubishi is undamaged. As for Gazelles Sandrine Seguy and Krystelle Huard, they will have lasting memories and quite a story to tell.

Women and parking: A car parked in the morning at the bivouac - nothing unusual about that. But when it is parked right across the start line, that can cause some confusion. This morning a pair of Gazelles, a little distracted, parked there before going in to breakfast. When they got back, their car had become the focus of attention of the entire Rallye, waiting to start Leg 1. The two gazelles moved their 4WD discretely out of the way. This year there are a large number of new teams - 54 out of 78 - who are still a little bit... lost.
