An evening with the Star of UK TV-Series Race to Dakar

The countdown is on to the British television debut of the incredible Race to Dakar series, which follows the extraordinary journey of Charley Boorman as he battles to compete in the legendary Dakar Rally. The first episode of the series will be broadcast on Sky Two on Thursday 19 October at 9pm and a further six weekly instalments will follow.

Actor Charley Boorman was one of three riders in the BMW Race to Dakar team, which also included accomplished off-road rider Matt Hall and BMW Off-Road Skills Chief Instructor and Dakar veteran Simon Pavey. The rally is arguably one of the toughest sporting events in the world and this unique series follows Dakar rookie Charley and his team-mates through the entire experience. The cameras follow the trio through months of physical and mental training, the preparation of the BMW F650 GS Dakar bikes for desert racing, practice races, team logistics, and then finally, the rally itself.

In support of the TV launch, BMW Motorrad is organising a Race to Dakar Roadshow, which will visit selected dealerships across the UK. The evening celebration will include a special preview of Race to Dakar, a display of the F650 GS Dakar bike, Rider Equipment and Michelin tyres used by the BMW team, plus a question and answer session with Charley Boorman himself.

Visitors will be able to grill Charley about his Dakar experience, as well as getting autographs and photos with the star. This is a great opportunity to get a personal insight into the drama, determination, camaraderie, passion and spirit involved in competing in the legendary and enigmatic Dakar Rally.

The tour will arrive at the following dealerships on the following dates:
