 | Arctic 4×4 Experience: 11 participants competed in first Winter-Amateur Rally.

No heat in Africa, no sand in the desert: The "Arctic 4x4 Experience 2011", which was held from February 11-19th, was totally different. 5000 kilometers in snow, ice and temperatures up to minus 40 degrees in the North of Sweden. Like the "Budapest-Bamako" the first Arctic 4x4 Experience was not a "speed-rally". The focus was based in navigation - and reaching the finish line.
15 teams had signed up for Arctic 4x4 Experience 2011, 11 came to start, only 8 teams completed the race. After nine days the winner was Team "Up and Under" from England with driver Andy Fewtrell and Co-pilot Lorna Fewtrell. Normally they compete in different rallies like the "Tuareg" in Morocco - with a RallyRaid Desert Warrior. In Sweden they liked it more luxurious and won the event with a Volvo XC70.
On the second and third place, two swedish teams were represented. Tomas Sundquist and Peter Knutsson competed with a Chevrolet Colorado, Linus Beimo and Helena Karlsson with a Subaru Pickup from the early 80´s.
"The planning for 2012 edition has alredy started" organizer Torbjörn Karlsson told. "Start and finish will be in the Swedish capital Stockholm and the route will go through Sweden, Norway and Finland. Feel free to change in the text if you want and don't hesitate to ask if you have questions!"
