 | Australasian Safari: Swedish Rally Princess Seel returns to contest 2010 Rally.
|
SA-Dakar 2010 competitor Annie Seel will return to Western Australia in September to compete in the Australasian Safari, Australia´s ultimate off-road adventure. Swedish-based Annie said the event was a perfect warm up for Dakar 2011 and she is really looking forward to getting back to WA.
"I was pleasantly surprised last year with how competitive the race was, there were many good riders! The event is fast, well organised and I´m hoping this year to get a Top 10 finish. If I have phenomenal luck, then maybe a Top 5."
Although looking forward to the camaraderie and competing again with the Husaberg team, Annie said the only thing that she wasn¹t too excited about was the dust. Annie will have strong competition from Brazil´s number 1 off-road racer Ze Helio, plus last year´s first and second place winners Jacob Smith and Todd Smith, and new and upcoming challengers from Australia and around the world.
Competitors thinking about entering this year´s Safari should get in quick, as they only have until Friday 13 August to sign up. Organisers expect approximately 100 competitors across the three categories of Auto, Moto and Quad bikes.
The gruelling 3600 km event starts at Hillarys Boat Harbour on 17 September, finishing eight days later on 25 September in Esperance on the southern coast. The course will travel through historic goldfields, remote desert, rugged bush and coastal dunes. The event is supported by the Western Australian Government with coverage of the event broadcast into key international tourism markets.
