|Australasian Safari: The dates announced for Australian Safari Rally in 2012.|
On the strength and quality of the field, and sponsor and community support for this year’s Australasian Safari, organisers have announced dates for the 2012 event. Event owner Justin Hunt, of Justin Hunt Management announced the dates 21 to 29 September 2012 at last night’s event competitor briefing.
"We understand what a huge effort it is to plan ahead to enter an event of this nature and commitments need to be made months in advance," Justin Hunt said.
"We have an incredible field of competitors this year and I wanted to ensure they have every opportunity to plan for next year’s event and mark it in their calendars. We will also be introducing a range of new innovations to Safari 2012 including the Safari Challenge."
Safari Challenge will allow people to be part of the 2012 Safari in their own 4WD. They will be able to drive elements of the competitor stages under timed race conditions. At least one competitive stage of driving will be included each day.
This is a great way to be part of the Safari and also to explore remote parts of Western Australia. All vehicles will be fitted with GPS speed monitoring devices and Safari Challenge vehicles will have a limited top speed of approximately 120 kph. Full details will released in November.
Australasian Safari entries will be open from 1 November 2011 to the end of January 2012. For more information on how you can get involved in the Australasian Safari and to catch up on the action of Safari 2011 as it happens, visit the official website at [ www.australasiansafari.com.au ].
