 | Australasian Safari: Two-car team from PWR Holden Rally in 2011 edition.
|
PWR Holden Rally will run a two car team in the 2011 Australasian Safari with three times V8 Supercar champion Craig Lowndes driving a new Holden Colorado and former V8 Supercar driver Paul Weel driving the 2010 winning Holden Colorado.
This will be Lowndes second attempt at the Safari after winning it in 2010 with navigator and team owner Kees Weel. Defending champion Kees will again navigate for Lowndes whilst John Panozzo will navigate for Paul. Paul and Panozzo will pilot the heavily modified Colorado that took out the 2010 Safari and a second Colorado will be built for Lowndes and Kees and its debut will be the 2011 Safari.
"The second car is getting built to basically the same spec as the current one but I’m sure we’ll find smarter and better ways to do things," said Lowndes. "As we find things to improve on, the current car will be up-specced as well."
Both cars will be prepared by PWR Performance Products at its facility on the Gold Coast. "We should be ready to test both cars at the end of June," said Weel. "We are going to use a similar cooling package we developed with Volkswagen for the Dakar Rally this year. The Dakar is the ultimate testing ground for cooling product and would be just as harsh on engine temps as the Safari."
With years of experience between the team and two cars PWR Holden Rally are confident heading into the 2011 Safari which kicks off on September 23rd.
