Baja 250: Ryan Arciero and Bob Shepard prepare for first Baja together.

With a new venue for the 21st annual SCORE Tecate Baja 250, Arciero-Miller Racing is poised for excellence as the SCORE-International Series visits Baja for the first time this season. Ryan Arciero and Bob Shepard will pilot the No. 82 SCORE Nitto Tire Chevrolet Trophy Truck in Ensenada, Mexico for the first time as a team.

The Tecate SCORE San Felipe 250 was moved northwest to the top of the Baja peninsula from San Felipe due to insurmountable issues between the city of San Felipe and one of the San Felipe Ejido land groups. The March 10 race, now called the Baja 250, will begin in Ensenada and finish in Santo Tomas.

"This new race course will bring the driver back into the equation," Arciero said. "Unlike San Felipe where the terrain is extremely rough and mostly straight, this course is technical in the sense that the driver really has to throw the truck around but at the same time be extremely smooth.

"I’m looking forward to continuing our 2007 season with Bob, and although we ended up with a bad draw for our starting position, I still feel really strong about this race. The entire team, including everyone at Geiser Brothers, has been working really hard since Laughlin, (Nev.) to give us a race truck that is more than capable of winning. Now it’s up to Bob and me to make sure we’re prepared to bring it home, and we’re ready."

"Ryan and I had a chance about three weeks ago to do some testing down in Baja which gave me a chance to get back into the truck and see how our new engine package was going to suit us," Shepard said. "I am impressed with the work Katech has done to give us a great engine package for this season, and I think it will do very well on this new course as well.

"Although this race will be short and fast, we still have to be very much on our toes. Our truck is really suited for this type of race course so keep your eyes on the number 82 Nitto Tire truck because we will find our way to the front. Since we start 31st, Ryan and I have some work ahead of us in coming through the field, but we’re up to the challenge and very excited to take that green flag in Ensenada next week." Team co-owner Mark Miller will attend the race fulfilling the team owner role.

Arciero-Miller Racing is a partnership between SCORE Trophy-Truck drivers Ryan Arciero and Mark Miller. The team operates out of its shop in Foothill Ranch, Calif. Arciero-Miller Racing drivers won the SCORE Baja 500 in 2000, ’02, ’03 and ’04 as well as the Baja 1000 in 2003, ’04 and ‘05. The team appreciates its generous support from Nitto Tire, Oakley, KMC and Gibson. For more information on the team, please visit [ ].
