Baja Portalegre: Barbosa fastest at the Baja Portalegre prologoue.

Miguel Barbosa and Luis Ramalho were the fastest in the Super Special Stage of Baja ACP Repsol Portalegre 500, held in the usual track placed near the Alto Alentejo province most important town. Thirteen seconds less than Gadasin and 17 over Pedro Gameiro show very well the superiority of the BMW team. In the top-ten, the best Portuguese drivers left only places “left” to the foreign teams: Gadasin (2nd), Zapletal (5th) and Sykora (10th).
In the Spanish Championship, the fastest was Ramon Villa, driving a Mitsubishi of the Escuderia Osona, with José Hernandez with also a Mitsubishi taking three seconds more and Javier Herrador with a BMW X5 taking the third overall.
Between the T2 Category best time for Spinelli’s Mitsubishi, beating Nelson Clemente and Antonio Baiona by no more than 4 seconds…
Tomorrow the fight continues with two new special stages, and Sunday the race ends in the morning with the final sector, before the Podium.

Quotes from the drivers:

Miguel Barbosa – “It was very slippery and so it was no so easy. The car seemed not to be fast enough… but the final chrono was good. We did well finaly !”

Boris Gadasin – “It was a very good track, like all that we found in Portugal since we were here for Transibérico. We had a small steering problem, but it’s solved in service area. We are both confident for tomorrow.”

Pedro Gameiro – “We went off a little after the start, but it was a good super special after all. I am not used to the new suspension system, but the car seems to be perfect.”

Francesc Termens – “I’ve lost a lot of time because of the dust of Hamad Al.- Thani. We were only able to overtake him in the climb of the river… so the final time was not so good.”

Nuno Inocêncio – “All OK, but it was very slippery. It was needed all the concentration, we could find.”

Rui Sousa – “It was a very good Super-Special but our engine doesn’t help us very much…”

Filipe Campos – “It was very slippery but it went well. I need to know the car better, so I can be a little bit faster…”

João Ramos – “We haven’t take any risks. The surface was very damaged, so we were very careful. The car was not 100% with some electronic problems that we have to solve before the race of tomorrow.”
