While preparing for the 2012 Dakar Rally, the Ukrainian "Sixt Ukraine" team will take part in the "Baja Qatar" from November 24 - 26, 2011.
In addition to preparing for the Dakar, team leader Vadym Nesterchuk plans to see the race itself and its features, as Baja Qatar is a candidate event for inclusion in the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies next year.
"For us, this is a good preparation phase before the Dakar 2012. Once again, we will be able to hone our skills on the sand, and a few days of the racing in Qatar will help better understand the specifics, to prepare for the next year," Nesterchuk said.
Sixt Ukraine leaved on November 18 for Abu Dhabi (UAE) to hold a three-day training session at the venue of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge rally, and later will move to the Baja in Qatar. The team will operate Toyota Land Cruiser LC200 in category T2 in training and performance.
As reported, for the first time the Ukrainian team hit first places at the FIA World Cup. On October 8th finished second in the absolute event and was first in its category T1.1 (super-production cars with petrol engine) at the Pharaons Rally in Egypt.
