Baja Spain: The Baja in 2006 keeps a good pace of entries

Two weeks ahead of the entry period deadline, July 7th, the Baja España Madrid - Aragón 2006 is experiencing an excellent registration pace of participating drivers and teams. As of today, there are 124 inscribed motorcycles and quads, 80 cars and 8 trucks who will start on Friday July 21st from the podium at the famous Madrid boulevard Paseo de la Castellana, after a previous special stage at the Jarama race track the day before.

The car category enjoys the exceptional presence of two Volkswagen driven by Carlos Sáinz and Carlos Sousa, Marc Blázquez from the official Nissan team, as well as other significant men in the world of raids, for instance, Portuguese Joao Ramos, winner of the previous stage in past years, with a Toyota Rav 4. Manuel Plaza, former Spanish Champion and important national figure in rallies is to participate with a Mitsubishi L200 pick-up truck. Nani Roma’s participation behind the wheel of an official Mitsubishi is still pending confirmation.

In motorcycles, in addition to world famous sportsmen such as Isidre Esteve, we will see Marc Guasch and Óscar González who qualified 3rd in the Baja 2005, and 1st and 2nd in the provisional standing of this year’s Spanish Motorallye Cup.

Other significant players are the following: former participants of the Dakar Antonio Ramos, Víctor Rivera, Rafael Ciscar and Enrique Medina, gravel rally car drivers Joan Roca and Joan Vinyes, who have participated on motorcycle on previous years, and the sidecar riders Fritz Bullert and Hans Werner Gauss.
