Baja Spain: X-Raid Debut for McRae finishes on winner´s podium.

A tailor-made debut for the newly formed AlgoDyne Green Power Racing Team of X-raid at the Baja Spain: The former rally world champion Colin McRae and his experienced co-pilot Tina Thörner made quite a splash from the very beginning in the X-raid BMW X3 CC (Cross Country.) At the finish, the British-Swedish X-raid duo were not only pleased with their stage win and a place on the winner's podium, but also the decisive victory of their fast self-igniting engine in the diesel evaluation.

"An amazing debut! Colin, Tina and the whole team can be very proud of this competition premiere" beams the X-raid manager Sven Quandt. "We knew that Colin was one of the fastest rally-drivers in the world after the four-day test prior to the Baja Spain. But that he and Tina kept up with the Dakar-winner in their yet unfamiliar BMW and fought for victory with Stéphane Peterhansel and Nani Roma is really an amazing accomplishment."

After the prologue, the 25-time rally world champion had the best performance also for Friday's stage of 188 kilometers, and was ahead of the Mitsubishi-duo. After second place on Saturday, the lead changed hands many times between McRae and the otherwise leading Peterhansel in the finals today. At the finish line, after a total of 1,461 kilometers, the AlgoDyne Green Power Racing Team from X-raid had to settle for second place, trailing by a mere 54 seconds. Peterhansel's Mitsubishi Works colleague Nani Roma came in 5.58 minutes later and took third place from a total of 122 participants.

"We really had a lot of fun", raves Colin McRae about his successful debut in the X-raid BMW X3 CC. "Most impressive is the power and the performance-development of the BMW diesel motor." Praise for the fast Brit and also for the chassis of the prototype developed by the Hessian private team. "In spite of the comparatively heavy-weight of this off-road-automobile, the X-raid BMW was astoundingly agile, not only in the fast passages but also in the tight curves."
