|Balkan-Breslau TICKER: News from the Tuesday´s stage - day finished.|
Most of the participants finished Tuesday´s stage to the new location in the city of Sliven. Here the camp was settled in front of a 4-star sporting hotel, were also the catering, race-control, fan-shop and the press center is situated. The rally-convoy will stay for two nights here.
The participants had to drive 133 kilometers in timed section and 128 kms liasion today, so together 262 kms. The stage was splitted in four stages.
The day began very fast, then the participants were send again into the mountains through varying forests - remembering first a little to apple-plants and later to Australian Eukalyptus-trees - and partially very rough ground. So some cars had their problems today, during them also the Israelian crew Heyman / Raz (2nd yesterday) and the Germans Becher / Wohlfahrt.
Actually the both Germans Thomas Becher and Andreas Wohlfahrt (Mercedes G-Wagen Proto) are back in the camp Sliven. Luckily their problems today were less bad then expected - even if also the service-truck was on their way to recover them.
"Whilst climbing a hill our engine became hotter and hotter, the warning-lights were blinking and at least we can´t manage to drive up the hill," navigator Hans-Peter Wohlfahrt reported in the camp. We waited some time to cool the engine down, but this doesn´t really help...from 128 degrees the temperature only got down to 108 degrees."
"So we changed the water and decided tpo continue slowly. After some kilometers we lost water again...but carefully we made it to the finish and also in the camp, " Wohlfahrt added. "We called the service, but after all we didn´t need him. Now we are changing the waterpump, tomorrow we will race again," he said with a smile.
In the bikes, the two Dutchmen Henno van Bergeijk (Husaberg) and Simon Schimmel (KTM) were fighting with only some distance between all day long at the front of the rally... In the last finish Schimmel was with some minutes the first of all competitors in front of Van Bergeijk...
Dacia again in the race - or not: The French-Romanian Dacia crew started again today after problems with their transmission (we reported yesterday)... But something went wrong. As the officials reported, the teams wasn´t allowed to start in the last section of today because of exceeded the maximum time...
