 | Balkan Offroad: Sólyom Team Hawkia´s gearbox exploded during last tests.

At the last test before the "Balkan Offroad Marathon" (03. - 10. September) the gearbox of the Hawkia racecar of the Hungarian Sólyom Team exploded. The cog-wheels of the first and second gears were damaged completely and their parts ruined the gearbox housing. So four days before the rally the team experienced a huge problem.
As a quick solution a spare gearbox has been built into the HAWKIA. The team’s spirit was a little bit shattered because of the unexpected problem but finally the enthusiasm remained unbroken.
Olivér Sólyom: "One week ago we thought that everything was OK with the car. Now it turned out that this gearbox cannot bear the increased engine power. Again we have luck that the problem occurred here at home, it would be really bad if the car breaks down at the prologue. But now everything is OK, on Thursday we leave for Kardzhali for the 2011 Balkan Offroad Marathon."
