 | Breslau Rally: More speed, less water and great weather on SS03 near Recz.

The Breslau Rally 2012 not only has a new camp but also new challenges: Less mud, less water, more speed and a more difficult organization. “A big part of the known mud holes from previous years is no longer part of this year’s course” explains organizer Henrik Strasser. So this was the day for the faster cars.
At a sunny 26 degrees the 200 km stage was especially dusty. Even though there were less mud holes water was in ample supply. Another thunderstorm had passed during the night and the track was full of small watery holes or bigger ponds of water.
In one aspect all participants agree: The “new” Breslau has found its rhythm. “The roadbooks are perfect, the tracks great, the daily results are there (even though the overall rankings are still missing), catering, camps, all great” smiles Dakar participant Christina Meier. “I am really enjoying it.”
On Monday the participants drove 200 km in special stages which turned out much faster than anticipated. The new camp was not fully set up yet and the first bikers were already back and searching for the beer bar. Also the rescue trucks had a quiet evening: Only two MAN Kat 8x8 had to be pulled out. “MTU-Motor-Spezi” Hugo Vogelsand had to quit after his engine mount broke. Now the question is how to get the truck back as Vogelsang drove here himself and would need a heavy transport for his mega truck…
Also injuries were limited, one quad driver had to quit after he rolled over. The following bikes and quads had to wait and a part of the stage was cancelled for them with a time bonus to make up the waiting time.
The current results can be seen on the official standings. Unfortunately – this is the only downside of the rally – overall standings have not been available until Tuesday evining.
