|Breslau TICKER: SS02 Monday starts with 150 kilometers in cold weather.|
Good morning from Poland! The Sunday at the Breslau Rally was very long as expected, after the first part of the stage at the Lausitzring the participants had to drive a liaison about 500 kms to Drawsko Pomorskie in Poland - before starting the second part of the day, a night stage in totally darkness (cars and trucks).
The bikes started around 8:00pm, the cars and trucks around 11:30 pm (!). Whilst the first bikes and quads finished the stage at 11:00 pm, the cars and trucks needed a little more time - the first cars were back in the camp at 1:00 am, dirty, full of mud... but you could see in happy faces, because even the caterer waited for them and presented hot noodles with spicy meat ;-)
"It was a short but really great night stage" reported Gregor Tilch, in private life veterinarian and racing here with an Iveco truck. "There were two compass courses that were really tricky. Unfortunately, we got lost at the beginning of the track, but could see some lights of other participants, followed them and were back in the track. We asked them where in the roadbook we are and found out, that we cutted some kilometers, but lost some CP´s, so collected time penalty. But who cares...we are here for fun! The mud looks bad but was easy to handle, nice driving even without daylight..."
Today (Monday) morning the competitors started in the second stage, which had to been changed. "We have to drive the SS04 today because in the middle of the military ground they had to secure a bomb, so we were not allowed to pass there" race director Alexander Kovatchev reported. So today the stage has 150 kms, some water holes, some mud but mostly wide green field with a very tricky navigation... The day started with rain and cold weather...but it looks like it´s become warm and sunny again :-)
