Budapest-Bamako: Problems with transmission.

As it sometimes happens: like the weather, also the infrastructure causes problems. As the team of marathonrally.com travels with the rally only in a ’light’ version, for example, in others’ cars, using others’ electricity supply and doesn’t travel with an own car but one by one in changing cars, unfortunately some disturbances in the reportage can occur.
After the third stage one of the transport vehicles arrived in the camp late, after the fourth stage the camp was in an about 3 km long valley where there was no satellite connection because of the depth. Today the team also couldn’t leave the valley, as some of the organisation vehicles and the participants spent the night instead of the camp in hotels in Dakhla, about 40 km from the camp.
Even the organisation has some problems with the communication. Neither the satellite connection of the sponsor Thuraya, nor the local Moroccan GPRS-connection function.
We hope that the communication problems will be solved in the next days and we apologise for the disturbance in the transmission. As it sounds so beautiful in the camp: „No problem, it’s part of the Budapest-Bamako spirit.”
