Central Europe Rally Special-Newssection (1st round Dakar-Series 2008)

Central Europe Rally: More then 110 Motobikes, 70 cars and 37 trucks.




As the rally is approaching, the organizing A.S.O. proudly unveils the most exclusive entrants already in the starting list. All categories are more than promising. The starting list already contains 110 motorbikes, 70 cars and as many as 37 trucks.

To start with the "big boys", the latest feature is the confirmation of the last Dakar winner, Hans Stacey of Holland. Also Ginaf Rally Power has confirmed its participation with at least three trucks. Of course also Loprais Tatra Team is heading to Budapest at full strength of one race truck and two assistance vehicles.

"The announcements make us happy, of course. The decision to select the CER has proved to be the right one and the crowds of hot favorites promise an exciting rally. All fans will be able to see the best of this sport worldwide. We believe that the quality is to outplay quantity and all fans will be satisfied," Ales Loprais said. In the truck list, fans are to meet another Tatra of the Brazilian Andre de Azevedo and two ambitious Liaz trucks of Martin Macik. The list of competitive trucks is definitely not over yet. The organizers are reportedly in serious talks also with other top teams in truck category.

The car category promises to be an exclusive one. Volkswgaen is fielding five elite vehicles fr pilots like Carlos Sainz, Giniel de Villers or Carlos Sousa. Mitsubishi is fielding four vehicles, including pilots like Stephane Peterhansel or Luc Alphand. BMW is fielding as many as four top-class vehicles for pilots like Al-Attyah or Bruno Saby. Jean-Lousi Schlesser can of course not be missing. Adrenaline seekers will be pleased by Robby Gordon and his monster Hummer.

In the bikes, all the top names promise a spectacular show with Cyril Despres, Marc Coma, David Casteu or Francisco Lopez being the main contenders. The umber of reasons why to follow the Central Europe Rally as a new dimension of marathon rallying is definitely to further grow.
