Central Europe Rally Special-Newssection (1st round Dakar-Series 2008)

Central Europe Rally: Participants are starting into final stage.

The tension on the last day and the final stage of the Central Europe Rally increases while again the route stays the same. Even though this doesn't make things more simple for the participants. We spoke with Hans Stacey about the track conditions.

"It is completely wrong to think that because a stage is being driven multiple times we have any benefit from it." he says "In contrast I am almost as drained from the conditions as on the much longer original Dakar stages. The difference here is that even though we are racing less than 200 or even 100 km you have to stay incredibly alert in each second of it. On the long desert stages there were always some minutes when you could relax while just going straight on for a couple of kilometers. Also the track here is much harder than driving on sand. However, our trucks and material cope very well with these conditions and we are optimistic to secure the total victory on Saturday" says Stacey who leads with his MAN with more than 30 minutes ahead of Van Ginkel on his Ginaf.
