CORR 2006: Taylor Racing goes Back-to-Back in Chula Vista

Scott Taylor and his Skyjacker BFGoodrich Tires Ford F-150 made the trip out to Southern California looking to rebound from the tough weekend of racing in Crandon earlier in the month. With only four rounds of racing left in the season, and the team in sixth place in the PRO-2 Championship, Scott knows he has his work cut out for him if he wants to regain the championship trophy.

Saturday - Round 13

The land rush start saw #41 Jerry Whelchel grab the lead with Scott Taylor right behind. Almost immediately Scott notice his truck developed a severe push going through the turns. On lap seven, #1 Renezeder passed Scott dropping the #8 into third place. The next three laps saw the top five trucks hold their positions. On lap fourteen, #41 Whelchel developed a flat tire and dropped back to the fourth spot. The next lap saw the engine on Renezeder’s truck go up in smoke. The final laps saw Scott take the lead and bring home the #8 Skyjacker BFGoodrich Tires Ford F-150 for the victory.

"It was tough today, there’s no cherry picking in this class, any one of these guys are capable of winning, but the Skyjacker Ford F-150 pulled it off today," commented Scott Taylor after his victory " We outlasted the competition. We have the horsepower, thanks to Roush Performance, just made a couple of mistakes on the set up. We are going back to the hauler and fine tune the chassis setup, hopefully we will be back on the podium tomorrow."

Sunday - Round 14

After Sunday morning practice, Scott was confident the overnight chassis changes were right on the money. The green lap dropped, Scott applied the Roush Performance power to the BFGoodrich tires, and grabbed the lead with #3 LeDuc and #29 Barlow giving chase. The third lap saw LeDuc drop back with Barlow moving to second. The next seven laps saw Scott hold a comfortable lead over Barlow. The mandatory yellow came out at lap ten; this allowed teams time for any quick fixes as well as bunching up the field for the fans. When the green flag came out again, the Skyjacker tuned suspension kept Scott out in front, to bring home back-to-back wins.

The #8 Skyjacker BFGoodrich Tires Ford F-150 accomplished back-to back wins earlier in the season at the Forest County Potawatomi Brush Run in Crandon.

"We took care of the push the truck developed yesterday," exclaimed Scott Taylor." We keep trying to adjust this new truck and then we would over compensate and lose the setup. Well we found it, and we aren’t going to lose it again. We have come from along way back. Kellie just mentioned were tied for second, just one point out of the lead. Even with all that has happened this year, it just shows you that Taylor’s Off-Road Racing can get it done."
