Dakar 2007: German-Slovenian Lohr-Unimog made it to the finish.

A reliable car, perfect service and a great job made by the cockpit crew - these were the three factors turning out to be vital for the success. The Team Maxdata Mercedes-Benz Unimog finished 44th in the 2007 Dakar Rally´s truck category. "That´s a great achievement and a placating way to finish the event," said Ellen Lohr who been forced into extremely early retirement, with her rally prototype. "The Unimog has proven itself and demonstrated that it´s the perfect choice for the task it originally was supposed to carry out: to be a reliable and quick service car for the team. I´m truly delighted that our Unimog crew succeeded in delivering in such a fine style."

"Following the strains experienced in the past two weeks, we now look forward to a clean bed, a shower and a full night of sleep," said Slovenian Darko Goriup who had contested the legendary desert event together with his compatriot, Janez Krivic, for the first time. "We are proud of having achieved our ambitious goal. The Unimog proved to be 100 percent reliable, the three guys in the service Actros supported us in great style - and we never lost our way - not even a single time. A remarkable feat as the navigation partly turned out to be extremely difficult and we had to complete nearly 50 percent of the rally in the dark."

Ellen Lohr, Germany´s successful female motor racing all-rounder, already looks ahead: "I´ve nearly overcome my early retirement," she says. "In more than 20 years of professional motor racing I´ve learned: after the race is prior to the race. I´m already looking forward to the 2008 Dakar, now."
