Dakar 2008: Vigouroux´ first alternative the "Toyo Dubai 24 hours".

After the huge disappointment following the cancellation of Dakar 2008, Eric Vigouroux wants to turn the page as quickly as possible by tackling things with renewed energy. "The worst thing to do would be to give up and wait for things to happen. I´ve therefore decided to tackle things head-on by meeting with all my partners to examine the present and above all, the future. I am, of course, very happy to confirm their active interest with a view to our participating in the Trans-Orientale in June."

It´s precisely in this context, only just having returned from Lisbon, that Eric has been offered the opportunity to take part in the "Toyo Tires" Dubai 24 hours event that takes place next weekend, form the 10th to the 12th January 2008. "Given my sudden availability, I didn´t hesitate a second to accept this offer. Taking part in this competition will be a sort of compensation for recent events, as well as the opportunity to symbolically show the colours of my partners at the time when I should have been competing in Dakar 2008. In addition, the main sponsor of this important challenge is Toyo Tires, which I regard as a very positive aspect."

Eric will thus be at the wheel of an Opel Astra GT Touring entered by Solution F www.touringcup.fr identical to the cars that have been driven by Michael Schumacher, Coultard, Button, Bourdais, Mathias Ekstrom and other famous drivers at the last champions´ race at Wembley. "For once, I won´t be at the wheel of a Chevrolet, but this is still fine because Opel, just like Chevrolet, is part of the General Motors group."

It should be remembered that Eric began his circuit racing career in Formula Ford, and that he is quite familiar with driving this car with its excellent 3.5-lire V6 engine (over 350 HP) and 6-speed gearbox with paddles on the steering wheel. His last outing in an Opel GT Touring was in Jarama (Spain) in March 2007 where he finished second in the category.
