Dakar 2009: Part one done - vehicles withdrawn from the port.

| |
| After 26 hours on the plane, the sunny city of Buenos Aires gave the Dakar-Teams a warm welcome. The afternoon on December 30 was devoted to the collection of team vehicles from the port of Delta Dock. The venue of technical and administrative scrutineerings, the exhibition complex called La Rural, was still subject to final preparations.
The afternoon was then devoted to the collection of all vehicles. First vehicles and crews are to enter scrutineerings on December 31. The vehicles were stored about 140 kilometers from the center of the Argentinian capital in a city called Lima, on the banks of the Paraná river, some 60 kilometers against the stream. The Paraná river flows to the bay of La Plata where the city of Buenos Aires is located, with the capital of Uruguay on the other side of the bay.
"Of course I was worried about my Tatra but it seems to be fully allright. Tomorrow we will check it more in-depth," said the Czech Tatra-Truckdriver Ales Loprais. "The truck was sitting on the ground with no air in suspension bags, which looked horrible but made no problem. Unlike some competitors, we had no problems with batteries and the engine started up at the first spin. I only recorded some small things, someone touched all buttons in the cab although they were marked "don’t touch". And someone had a look inside our superstructure but it was empty anyway."
