Dakar 2009: Successful proving of the Race Touareg in Morocco.

During tests of the Volkswagen Race Touareg 2 in Morocco the cross-country rally prototype completed 2,500 kilometres in different types of terrain without any problems. The last tests before the Dakar Rally, which took place near the Moroccan town of Erfoud, served as final tests of the components as well as the fine-tuning of the vehicle prior to the "Dakar", which will be run for the first time through Argentina and Chile starting on 03 January 2009. The tests were performed using one Race Touareg 2 as well as the driver pairings Carlos Sainz/Michel Périn (E/F), Giniel de Villiers/Dirk von Zitzewitz (ZA/D) and Mark Miller/Ralph Pitchford (USA/ZA), who also completed a training programme for mechanics.
