|
Daily Blog-"Kicks" from the Iberian Rally Raid Champion Filipe Campos - Part 02: We’ve watched today a stage, that will certainly be one of the most exciting of the Dakar 2010. Stephane Peterhansel and Nasser Al-Attiyah, have been alternating in the lead of the race until being caught in the final kilometers by the Hummer of Robby Gordon, who achieved the first victory for non German car, with just one second clear of the BMW driver. The French veteran, succeeded to extend his advantage to more than seven minutes to Sainz.
In regards to the Portuguese drivers, Miguel Barbosa made the best performance of the day, now more adapted to "his" Mitsubishi, which led him to climb two places to 14th overall. Carlos Sousa, had its worst day of Dakar, down one place in the standings, but still the best of the Portuguese, with seventh place overall.
On the two wheels, Marc Coma won the stage, and is now sixth overall, and if it wasn’t the penalty of 22 minutes received, he would be in the top three. Also noteworthy was an excellent fifth place of Paulo Gonçalves on today’s stage, giving clear indications that can rise above the tenth place overall. Hélder Rodrigues, had a bad stage today, but still among the ten fastest, keepping the lowest place of the podium in the standings.
