|Dakar 2010 BLOG: Iberian Champion "Kicks" - The Grand Final.|
Daily Blog-"Kicks" from the Iberian Rally Raid Champion Filipe Campos - Part 08: After the 13th stage, all of us, lovers of off-road, will wait anxious for tomorrow. The podium is, unless something unexpected happens, in the hands of the Volkswagen, but we have to wait untill the end of the last 206 kms of the last stage, to know who wins. Nasser Al-Attiyah was today second, behind French Stephane Peterhansel, and managed to steal 2:32 minutes to his team-mate Carlos Sainz, leaving the difference between the two in 2m48s, with advantage to the Spanish. So that, tomorrow we will have a great end in perspective, with very fast stage, in the way that to two drivers like.
The Portuguese Carlos Sousa was 10th today losing more time to Guerlain Chicherit, foreseeing that it will be very difficult to take 24 minutes to the BMW driver to make it to fifth place. However one thing has assured: the pilot that the is behind him has more than 40 minutes of gap, so the sixth place will be guaranteed. Miguel Barbosa, was 14th today and the 12th the place overall should no longer escape, and Ricardo Leal dos Santos should not lose the 14th overall after being 16th on the stage.
On two wheels, the victory should no longer escape to Despres, but we can certainly watch a great fight for three plsces below, with Ullevalseter, Contardo and Rodrigues separated by just 16 minutes. The Portuguese, sixth o today’s stage, lost some more time to pilots in front of him and has a tough task to achieve what we all wish: end this brilliant Dakar that his doing on the the final spot of the podium. Ruben Faria was tenth, ends the race in great shape and has the opportunity to overcome the minut that separates him from the pilot in front, to get the 11th place in the final. The other evidence Portuguese driver, Bianchi Prata, made 29th today and will close the top thirty of these South American Dakar.
