 | Dakar Rally 2013: Iveco and De Rooy Team to start with five race truck crews.
|
Iveco, sponsor of the current Dakar Truck Champion "Team de Rooy" from Holland, will once again take part at the Dakar Rally 2013. This marks the second time that the Italian truck-manufacturer Iveco has partnered with team De Rooy, first debuting at the "OiLibya Morocco Rally" in October 2011.
Team De Rooy will compete with four Iveco New Trakker 4x4s and one Iveco Powerstar, which feature FPT Industrial’s Cursor 13 engines that generate over 900 horsepower. The team will be completed with four New Trakkers, which have been commissioned to provide vehicle support and assistance throughout the competition.
Three of these outstanding trucks will be driven by the Dutch Gerard de Rooy (winner of Dakar 2012, with Tom Colsoul and Darek Rodewald), Finnish Miki Biasion (with George Albiero and Michel Huisman) and Dutch Hans Stacey (with Detlef Ruf and Bernard der Kinderen).
The other two (customer) trucks will be driven by René Kuipers (Holland, with Moi Torrallardona and Peter van Eerd) and Spaniard Jo Adua (with Ferran Marco Alcayna and Marc Torres).
The Iveco Trakker is designed to excel in all climate conditions and on all types of terrain, from dirt roads to extreme off-road areas, with the utmost comfort, safety and productivity.
The forthcoming Dakar 2013 edition provides Iveco with the invaluable opportunity to see its products in action as each vehicle is put through its paces in extreme situations, making this the perfect chance to carry out important, in-depth assessments on performance and reliability.
