 | Dakar Rally 2013: Kamaz are dominating again - Iveco can´t make it yet.

The Special of 353 km´s from Córdoba to La Rioja went across stony tracks with enough rocks and gravel. From the beginning onwards it was difficult to overtake and that sets your position. For a lot of competitors it meant eating the dust of the trucks in front.
Kamaz played the game clever and let Karginov go. He started 5th overall, just 8 seconds behind Dutch Gerard de Rooy (Iveco). At the end he left everyone behind in 04:44:08 hours which brought him to the 4th place overall.
Peter van den Bosch took with his DAF a splendid second place, just 3.39 minutes behind Tuesday´s winner. Van den Brink, Nikolaev, Versluis, Mardeev and Loprais all finished within a few minutes and took the 4th until the 7th place.
The Iveco-train stayed together whole day and was continuously about 10 minutes behind the leader. At the end they managed to go from the 10th place to the 8th. René Kuipers was the man of the De Rooy team and he finished 8th at 7.07 minutes behind Karginov.
Gerard de Rooy took the 9th place at 7.13 minutes and Miki Biasion finished just out of the top-10 at an 11th place, being 8.11 minutes behind the leader. "Today it was nothing but eating dust; that made it a very awkward stage. We also had a flat tyre which took about 10 minutes. So in fact it wasn´t a real bad day and everything is still possible. However, we can´t afford any bad-luck anymore" said De Rooy.
In the overall rankings, Gerard now takes the 5th place, 01:02:06 hours behind the leader, Nikolaev in his Kamaz. René Kuipers takes a fine 9th place at 02:30:16 hours and does an excellent rally so far without big mistakes nor technical problems. Miki Biasion now takes the 15th place at 04:52:54.
