|Dakar Rally 2014: Biasion not with Fiat - chance for Bulgarian Fiat Team?.|
In autumn 2006, the Italian "Fiat-Abarth PanDakar" team surprised the rally-world with two special built Fiat Panda 4x4 (1.9 liters 172 hp engine, called "PanDakar") for the Dakar Rally 2007 in Africa.
The two rally-legends Miki Biasion from Italy and Bruno Saby from France were the first drivers of the Fiat PanDakar in 2007 - but both cars had to retire. Since October 2007 the Italian "Orobica Raid" team was responsible for the future of the team.
For the 2014 edition of the Dakar, Orobica announced the participation with one Fiat PanDakar and again Miki Biasion together with the navigator Umberto Fiori, followed by a backup Scam/Iveco servicetruck.
"Our main team is back again with the project to race with the small 4x4 in the highest level of rallyraid" the team announced on their website [ PANDAKAR.IT ]. But following latest news, the participation is maybe canceled...
Miki Biasion himself announced on Tuesday, December 3rd: "Unfortunately I have to tell you that I will not be able to race in the Dakar 2014. The Orobica Raid Team can’t give me the Fiat Panda for lack of budget. I am very sad and disappointed by the situation. I promise to all my fans that I will try to find a professional and competitive team, to be at the start of the next edition."
Actually we have no informations if only Biasion is not competing or the whole team will not start. Maybe this will be the chance for the Bulgarian crew of Alexiev Orlin and Plamen Nikolov: "We will start with a Fiat Freemont T1 prototype" confirmed team-director Todor Hristov during the "24 hours of Greece".
