|Dakar Rally 2014: JP Strugo is back - today D-day for French Team Dessoude.|
Nearly 10,000 kilometers to go with almost half of special stages, with great landscapes and "caliente" atmosphere, the 36th edition of the Dakar is in the starting blocks. After the traditional administrative and technical checks that took place in Rosario, close to the largest casino in South America, french Team Dessoude could enjoy the starting podium ceremony.
This public presentation ceremony took place on the banks of the Rio Parana, near the Monumento de la Bandera paying tribute to the creation of the Argentine flag. A symbol for the city that saw Che Guevara’s birth... Tenthousands of Argentines were given an appointment to Rosario to support all competitors shouting “Suerte” means good luck. Kickoff from Rosario today morning and end of the adventure in two weeks in Valparaiso in Chile.
Used to this kind of pre-race ceremonies, team-director André Dessoude remains serene and prefers to think of the bivouac of tomorrow night where the first race kilometers would already have given some results. For Régis Delahaye, Frédéric Chavigny and their teammates, this day was an opportunity to greet some opponents.
Men to be followed over the next two weeks: Nr 331: Buggy Juke: Régis Delahaye and Jean-Paul Forthomme will share the cockpit of this amazing Buggy which has recently experienced a new phase of development. Nr 339: Proto Atacama: Frédéric Chavigny will meet again Guy Leneveu for this new long trip. As for the Juke, the Atacama has evolved considerably to the delight of his driver.
Nr 382: Buggy: Jean-Pierre Strugo is back on track with an old friend, Bruno Cattarelli. A crew to be followed. Nr 398: Pickup 03: Yves Tartarin is always of the party, for the occasion with Stéphane Duplé. The two fellows will head to Valparaiso from today. Nr 403: Mitsubishi: Bernard Chaubet and Bruno Seillet will have bivouac with the other crews with a goal to reach, the finish but in better place than in 2013.
For the five Team Dessoude crews, the adventure can begin. Everyone has scrupulously followed the program and is ready to spend his last “quiet” night. Today competitors will start with a special stage relatively short, 180 km. An ideal stage to appreciate the south american rocky tracks.
