|Dakar Rally 2014: Racing for the fight against AIDS - ALDO Racing is ready.|
David Bensadoun and co-driver Patrick Beaulé will team up again, on board the ALDO Racing Desert Warrior 3 when they take to the roads of the 36th running of the Dakar Rally.
"This is an achievement after 10 years of hard work," claimed David Bensadoun, a rider turned driver. "I have raced for many years on two and four wheels in many countries around the world before I earned the opportunity to participate in the greatest motorsport challenge, the Dakar. Our car has never been better prepared; we did some testing last summer in Spain and again this fall in Great Britain where the DW3 was built. We have a strong service team headed by Yvan Turcotte, a seasoned crew chief."
"David and I are on the same page," said Patrick Beaulé, the only Canadian to complete at the Dakar on 2 and 4 wheels. "In our first Dakar in 2012, we were the only Canadians to complete at the event and we took a respectable 39th place (out of 161 entrants) and also achieved the Best Rookie title. This year, we aim to place in the top 30."
Bensadoun and Beaulé will partner in the ALDO Racing Desert Warrior 3, a tubular prototype with a Range Rover Evoque shell, a Reiger eight-shock endurance suspension and a ZF all-wheel drive train. The BMW engine, a three-liter bi-turbo diesel, delivers 271 horsepower and a whopping 627 pounds of torque, meeting strict FIA rules. It will also carry 3 spare tires and 260 litres of fuel.
The legendary event was run from 1979 to 2008 in Europe and Africa before it moved to friendlier grounds in South America. This year, Argentina, Bolivia and Chile host the event for 13 legs totaling 5,522 kilometres of speed stages and 3,852 kilometres of transit. A full day of rest is scheduled in Salta, Bolivia at mid-course.
ALDO Racing is racing to push its anti-AIDS initiative. ALDO is urging everyone (and their friends) to join in its continued fight against AIDS with the launch of a new fundraising and awareness campaign: #FRIENDSFIGHT. The campaign kicks off at the Dakar Rally, where the ALDO Racing team is on a mission to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS as they navigate their way from Argentina to Chile in the annual 14 days off-road endurance race.
