|Dakar Rally 2014: Swedish Annie Seel back at Dakar as Polaris Codriver|
You remember Annie Seel? The "Swedish Rally Princess" with her Motobike, in the last years very active in rallies like the "AustralAsian Safari", "GORM 24 Hours Germany" and "Merzouga Rally"? Annie will be back at the Dakar rally 2014 after two years rest - first time as a codriver in a Polaris RZR900 with the Australian Gary Connell.
On the saddle of her motorcycle, Annie Seel forged a reputation as the "Princess of the Desert", first on the dunes of the Sahara and then on the tracks of Argentina and Chile. The Swede has finished the Dakar a total of five times, including the 2010 edition, when she was the best female rider thanks to her 45th place overall.
The pocket rocket then took a two-year break from the Dakar, but her many exploits ensured she was not forgotten and this year Annie got a tempting proposal to change direction. "Gary Connell got in touch just before the Merzouga Rally to offer me the co-driver's seat. I said 'yes' straight away, and I'm delighted about it", explained Annie, who started her second career with a win in the SSV category.
"I had no plans for the Dakar, so this is a dream opportunity. My life was boring without the Dakar. This Polaris lies halfway between a motorcycle and a car. I've christened it my 'flying sofa'."
