|Dakar Rally 2014: Xavier Foj and Toyota achieves third place in T2 cars class.|
Xavier Foj, Fojmotorsport Coopertires team driver and three-times winner in the cars T2 (production) class, accompanied by his navigator Nacho Santamaría, has managed to climb to third place overall in Valparaiso in the T2 category of Rally Dakar 2014 with their Spanish Toyota Land Cruiser. He achieves, in this way, its sixth consecutive podium in the toughest race in the world.
After the tough race, for many the hardest since celebrated in Southern America, team has positioned itself behind Jun Mitsuhashi and Nicolas Gibon in the T2 category (both Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Auto Body Team Japan) and 34 in the absolute classification of cars.
In the last stage, it was not easy, but very "dakarian", Foj has lost many minutes when he has stopped to 5 kilometers of finish line for to help Frederic Chavigny (Dessoude), who has had a serious accident and had to be evacuated by helicopter.
"It has been a difficult Dakar," said Xavier foj after the rally. "I do not think we've done very different things to other years, but for many more miles, each day and without any rest. On the other hand, I had never seen so broken ground as of this edition. This has been hard for the vehicles that have suffered much."
"I congratulate the Toyota Auto Body team, because they have made a perfect race and I want to thank all my sponsors, who have provided support and excellent material. I can not forget the media and the fans. We know what they have pushed. Thank you very much everyone."
